TOSS, the plant-based dressing brand founded by sisters Grace and Sophie Devlin, has completed a £660,500 funding round, bringing in venture capital, angel syndicates and a number of food and drink founders as investors.

Backers include SFC Capital, the early-stage investor; FIGR, the family office behind olive oil brand Citizens of Soil; GOTA, an angel syndicate that invests in food businesses; and Access, the data-driven angel fund run by SyndicateRoom. Emily Shaw and Ollie, the founders of direct-to-consumer consultancy TRIBE, and angel investors William Frewin and Tom Waterhouse also took part.

The company said the capital would be used to build brand awareness, scale retail distribution and expand its product range. TOSS currently sells five dressings, including Green Goddess, Miso Magic and King Caesar, which it positions for dipping, marinating, glazing and spreading as well as dressing salads.

Grace Devlin, co-founder of TOSS, said: “From the very beginning, our priority wasn’t simply raising capital, it was finding partners who genuinely believe in our vision and who can add value as we scale the business. This investment will allow us to build TOSS into the UK’s everyday squeeze.”

She added that the business would be “investing heavily in building consumer awareness and driving trial, whilst continuing to grow our direct-to-consumer community alongside our retail footprint. We’ll also be launching new product formats that make it even easier for consumers to incorporate TOSS into everyday meals, whether that’s drizzling, dipping, marinating, glazing, or spreading.”

TOSS products are stocked by Harrods, Selfridges, Holland & Barrett, Panzer’s, Eat 17, Glasette, BEN’s and Superette, alongside more than 100 farm shops and delis. Its wholesale partners include Mahalo, Suma, Faire, Artesian Food Club and CLF. All of its dressings are vegan, gluten-free and refined sugar-free, and the company says they contain no artificial emulsifiers or preservatives.

The brand holds Great Taste Awards, the accreditation scheme run by the Guild of Fine Food, in which a panel of more than 500 industry judges rates products at one, two or three stars.

Investors pointed to the lack of recent innovation in the category as a reason for backing the business. Vincent Kuiper of GOTA said: “The dressing aisle has been dominated by artificial additives for over a decade, with little meaningful innovation in sight. TOSS changes that, bringing 100% natural ingredients, bold flavours, and a brand built for occasions well beyond the salad bowl.”

Emily Shaw, co-founder of TRIBE, said the brand was “tapping into a real shift in how people want to eat, less waste, less faff, better ingredients”, adding: “This raise puts them in a strong position to own that space, and we’re delighted to help them maximise the DTC opportunity.”

Tom Britton, co-founder of SyndicateRoom, said: “In a short period of time Sophie and Grace have built a distinctive brand with a clear point of view in a category that hasn’t had one for years.”

The raise comes against a tighter backdrop for early-stage funding. The British Business Bank’s Small Business Equity Tracker, published in July, found that equity investment into UK smaller businesses fell 4 per cent to £12.3 billion in 2025, with the number of seed-stage deals down 27 per cent on the previous year. The same report found the top 10 fundraisings accounted for 23 per cent of all investment.

Angel-backed consumer product businesses have drawn fresh institutional support in recent months, with the British Business Bank committing £5 million to the British Design Fund to back early-stage UK product companies outside London.
