Dr Jeffrey Mathews, DDS, is a cosmetic and family dentist based in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, known for combining technology, artistry, and compassion in dental care.

A native of East Tennessee, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine in 2011. After completing an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency in 2012, he set out to redefine what quality and aesthetic dentistry could look like in his community.

At Goodlettsville Family Dental, Dr Mathews focuses on full-mouth rehabilitation, dental implants, Invisalign, veneers, and cosmetic enhancements. He also provides facial aesthetic treatments, including Botox and dermal fillers, helping patients look and feel their best. His approach is grounded in integrity and precision—every diagnosis and treatment plan is guided by his belief that patients deserve the same standard of care as family.

Beyond dentistry, Dr Mathews is a licensed realtor and real estate investor, applying the same discipline and long-term thinking to property development that he brings to patient care. His leadership is defined by innovation, honesty, and impact. He continues to raise the bar for quality, aesthetics, and compassion in modern dentistry—helping people smile with confidence, both in and out of the dental chair.

Q&A with Dr Jeffrey Mathews

You grew up in East Tennessee. How did your early experiences shape your approach to dentistry?

I grew up in a small town where everyone knew each other. That sense of community shaped how I view patient care. I wanted to build a dental practice that felt personal and honest, where people felt listened to and cared for—like family.

After earning your DDS in 2011, you pursued advanced training. What motivated that?

When I finished dental school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, I wanted to go further. I enrolled in an Advanced Education in General Dentistry programme focused on full-mouth rehabilitation and aesthetics. That year changed my entire approach. It helped me see how oral health connects to overall health and confidence.

You’ve become known for combining technology with artistry. How does that work in practice?

I think the best dentistry happens when science and art meet. We use digital X-rays, intraoral cameras, and precision tools, but technology only matters if it improves a person’s experience. For example, digital imaging helps me design veneers that look natural and fit perfectly. It’s about precision, comfort, and trust.

You’ve mentioned integrity as a core value. What does that mean in your daily work?

Integrity means giving every patient our best judgement—nothing less. We don’t push treatments people don’t need. Every recommendation is based on what we’d do for our own families. That honesty builds long-term relationships, which is what I value most.

What’s one case or moment that really reinforced your philosophy?

I remember a patient who hadn’t smiled in years because of severe wear and damage. We did a full-mouth restoration, and when she looked in the mirror, she cried. Moments like that remind me that dentistry isn’t about teeth—it’s about confidence and quality of life.

You also offer facial aesthetic treatments like Botox and fillers. How does that fit into your work?

It’s all connected. A smile doesn’t stop at the teeth—it includes the whole face. I trained with the American Academy of Facial Esthetics and the International Academy of Facial Esthetics to understand balance, symmetry, and facial harmony. It allows me to offer a complete aesthetic approach that feels natural, not overdone.

How do you see the connection between oral health and general wellness evolving?

We’re learning more every year about how oral health affects systemic health. Gum disease, for instance, is linked to heart disease and diabetes. My goal is to raise awareness that seeing a dentist isn’t just cosmetic—it’s preventative medicine.

You’re also involved in real estate. How did that come about?

Real estate is another way to build something meaningful. I enjoy improving properties and creating spaces where people can thrive. In some ways, it’s similar to dentistry—it’s about design, investment, and impact. Both require vision and integrity.

What does leadership mean to you within your team and your community?

Leadership means setting the standard—technically, ethically, and personally. At Goodlettsville Family Dental, I encourage my team to see patients as people first. When you work with that mindset, excellence naturally follows.

What advice would you give to young professionals entering dentistry today?

Stay curious. Learn beyond the basics. It’s not all about perfection—focus on progress and empathy. Technology will keep changing, but integrity never goes out of style.
