So many memories of fighting for liberty with Ed Crane: we had dinner with George W. Bush at the governor’s mansion in Austin, a four-hour brainstorming session with Vladimir Putin in his dacha in Novo-Ogaryovo, a meeting with China’s Social Security Minister at the Peace Hotel in Shanghai, and maybe a hundred other activities advancing liberty in the United States and all over the world.
And he was always, always a paragon of integrity and independence at those meetings, indeed, a true hero of liberty.
So, from Chile, I salute this great American and dear friend. In the words of Yeats: “Think where man’s glory most begins and ends. And say my glory was I had such friends.”
